partnering and legal services to the Global CDMO (Contract Development and Manufacturing Organisation) within Novartis Operations. Support the Head Legal ESO & CMO strategic projects globally, with specific focus on US-related business.
About the Role

Key Responsibilities:
- Adds value to the strategy and decision making as the legal business partner in CDMO-related deals, especially US-based Cell&Gene therapy and/or other CDMO contracts.
- Provides strategic legal support during CDMO-related negotiations, drafting, review and implementation/operational management within the area of biologics, Cell&Gene contract manufacturing as well as External Relationship Management (“ERM”) within CDMO;
- Coordinates and collaborates with other members of the Novartis Operations Legal team and with business and functional stakeholders as necessary
- Acts as main legal single point of contact for Novartis affiliated company Navigate Biopharma Services, Inc. (Carlsbad, California), mainly supporting general legal matters as well as the negotiation, review of and legal advice on commercial contracts (e.g. MSAs, SOWs) concerning laboratory services in the field of assay development / clinical trials / in vitro diagnostics to third party clients (e.g. other pharma companies) as well as internal Novartis development divisions (e.g. Global Drug Development);
- Supports the establishment, design and implementation of clear guidelines and processes to provide optimal and timely legal support for transactions / projects, while ensuring their execution and implementation in accordance with Novartis Operations strategy and in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
- Advises and determines appropriate actions regarding legal and compliance issues, as per ERC guidance and/or in close contact with ERC colleagues, as required, in relation to collaborations
Essential Requirements:
- Law school graduated
- At least 5 years of experience as Senior Legal Counsel, working in multinational companies.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Substantial, relevant experience in leading large and complex legal transactions.
- Proven ability to focus on solutions.
- Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills, and experience working in cross-functional teams, demonstrating professional and culturally sensitive work ethics
- Strong experience in handling a high volume of activity involving multiple, often complex projects simultaneously, able to set priorities, and deal positively within tight timelines and demanding clients.
- Fluent in English and Spanish languages
