Résumé
The Novartis Biomedical Research (BR) is in need of a functional security architect (FSA) to assist them in the development of new systems and platforms to support Novartis’ innovative biomedical research pipelines and proofs of concept initiatives. BR conductes early-stage research and development and collaborates across scientific and organizational boundaries, with a focus on powerful new technologies that have the potential to help produce therapeutic breakthroughs for patients. As a Functional Security Architect, you will support these innnovation initiatives by providing subject matter expertise in the domain of end-to-end security architecture and guidance.
The FSA will work with BR technology and science teams to ensure solutions are security designed, following approved security patterns and providing ongoing security consulting and expertise to support the certain activities.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides in depth expertise about security principles, ensures controls are included as technical requirements
- Advise peer architects and technologists about approved security patterns and practices
- Reviews, and challenges defined IT security related internal standards for the ongoing improvement of Novartis policies and proceedures
- Acts as single point of contact, collaborating closely with other FSAs and IT Architects on IT security related matters
- Promotes IT Security culture within the business and application management teams
- Defines pragmatic solutions and recommends alternatives that meet or exceed security requirements
- Reports on security status of projects
- Builds external network regarding IT security relevant to the business function
- Performs risk/threat assessment of all IT project related to the function
- Manages pool of external security and solution architects assigned to portfolio. Manages prioritization of security assessment for the function

What you’ll bring to the role:
- University working and thinking level, degree in technical/scientific area or comparable education/experience and 8+ years of professional experience in IT, with a strong focus on security.
- 5+ years of dedicated experience in security architecture, including designing and implementing security solutions and proficient English.
- Proven track record in preparing and presenting security architecture plans, strategies, and security reports to security and IT leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively. Proficiency in risk assessment, threat modeling, and vulnerability management.
- Comprehensive understanding of security standards, frameworks, and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with security technologies, including but not limited to firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, encryption, and identity management.
Desirable requirements:
- Professional information security certification, such as CISSP and/or technical architecture certifications from AWS, Azure, Microsoft, Cisco, etc., is preferred
- CSSLP, GSSP, ECCSP, CASS
